7月18日に発生した大規模な放火事件を受けて、海外で京都アニメーションを応援するためのクラウドファンディング（募金活動）が始まりました。
募金活動を行ったのはアメリカのアニメ会社「センタイ・フィルムワークス」で、開始と同時に応援が殺到しており、事件発生から数時間で1000万円（$139,642）を突破。公式ツイッターで「われわれの心と思いは京都アニメーションと共にあります」とのコメントを発表し、京都アニメーションを全力で応援するとしています。
海外だと京都アニメーションはジブリに匹敵するような知名度があり、京都アニメーションのアニメには熱狂的なファンも数多くいました。SNSでは京都アニメーションを応援するためのハッシュタグ「#PrayForKyoani」が広がっている状態で、今も京都アニメーション支援を呼び掛ける声が急激に広がっています。
